From leisure centre to hotel
History of the TaunusTagungsHotel
The current TaunusTagungsHotel is the result of various phases of expansion. A brief look back at our history, which began in the 1960s.1964: The hotel was built by the Hesse Farmers' Association as a family and leisure centre for the Hesse Rural People's College, a youth and adult education centre (part D in the existing building - overnight accommodation and a meeting room). It was called the "Haus der Landfrau [House of the Countrywoman]".
Up until 1989 , many farmers used the hotel for two-week breaks.
1984 Initial building was upgraded and renamed the "Hess. Landvolk-Hochschule", which moved from Taunusstraße 151.
1995: Completion of 40 single rooms and additional training and meeting rooms (building sections A and B). Name changed to: "Wirtschaftsbetrieb Friedrichsdorf GmbH". Mainly external occupancy, in particular, cooperative banks.
2007/2008: Renamed the TaunusTagungsHotel

A modern conference hotel
2009: Hotel classified as a 3-star hotel by the DEHOGA e.V. hotel and gastronomy association
2010: Single rooms in building section C upgraded to comfort rooms
2011: Mobile video projectors installed in all meeting rooms
2012: Space above the restaurant upgraded into the 100 sqm Taunus conference room and the dining room was redesigned and reclassified as a restaurant. Hotel classified as a 3-star superior hotel by the DEHOGA e.V. hotel and gastronomy association
2013: Suite and Herzberg conference room created. Upgrading of the Bauernstube farmhouse parlour in the basement, building section A/B, into a cooking experience kitchen. Fireside room converted and renamed the "Bauernstube".
2014: Upgrading of 3rd Floor Building section C: Creation of 6 additional comfort rooms. Conversion of building section D: Upgrading of office space: Creation of the junior suite and 6 comfort rooms. Taunus room (new building) extended to a divisible 220 sqm meeting room plus restaurant and kitchen.
2015: Bathrooms in building part D renovated to create: 1 single room, 1 comfort double room. Modern fire alarm system installed.
2017: Rooms in building D renovated to create new categories: Comfort Plus Single Room and Comfort Plus Double Room, Room 1 renovated. Floor in building section A and Gickelsburg, Bornberg, Limes and Saalburg meeting rooms renovated.
2018: New lounge with panoramic views of the forest created. Guests can purchase a range of new book titles, souvenirs or selected wines here.
The hotel currently has 82 rooms, including suites, 13 function rooms, 1 restaurant, including bar and lounge area, 1 farmhouse parlour, 1 cooking experience kitchen, 3 terraces and a lounge area on the 1st floor.
